D.C. New Student Enrollment

Enrollment Instructions
If you are offered a seat at LEARN DC after filing an initial application on MySchoolDC.org, the next action is to complete your online school enrollment.

There are three steps in the enrollment process. You must submit all required documents in the three steps outlined below and approved by the LEARN Enrollment Team before your seat is confirmed.

STEP ONE

Set up an account in PowerSchool Enrollment our online enrollment system.  LEARN DC will pre-populate your application with the information you provided in MySchoolDC and then provide you with the registration code needed to start your application.

STEP TWO

Complete your application via PowerSchool Enrollment. You may choose to upload required documents (see below for a list of documents) into the online application, or you may drop off these documents at our main office during our standard summer office hours, Mon-Friday 9am-2pm.

STEP THREE

Your application is considered complete once you have finished the online application and submitted your DC Residency Verification form. Once completed, our Enrollment Team will review your application and confirm that your scholar(s) are ready to attend LEARN DC for the 2022-23 school year!

Required Documents

Required Documents:

  1. A copy of your child’s original Birth Certificate (new students only)
  2. A copy of the enrolling parent/guardian’s unexpired driver’s license or state ID (new students only)
  3. A copy of the child’s current, unexpired DOH Health Certificate and immunization record (Children will not be allowed to attend in-person instruction without current health and immunization documentation. If you have not done so, please contact your child’s pediatrician to make an appointment.)
  4. A copy of the child’s D.C. Oral Health Assessment Form (due within 45 days from the start of school.)
  5. DC Residency Verification Form (DCRV).If you have yet to relocate to DC, please do *not* complete the form until you have established your residence in the District.  While we will not be able to finalize your application until you are residing in DC, we will hold your spot until your move is finalized.
  6. Supporting Document(s) for DC Residency Verification

Families not residing on a military base: Please review the list of acceptable documents on the page two of the DCRV form and submit your document(s) either via PowerSchool Enrollment or by dropping them off at our main office during normal office hours.  All DC schools are required by law to disenroll or charge tuition any student who has not provided proper documentation to support their residency, so please be sure to carefully review the specific requirements for the document(s) you opt to submit.

Families residing on JBAB: LEARN DC will secure the necessary supporting documentation from base command on your behalf – you need only submit the DCRV form.

Families currently in temporary housing or experiencing homelessness: LEARN DC will follow up with you directly to verify your residency using the method(s) most appropriate to your specific circumstance. Note that families currently on the waitlist for on-base housing at JBAB are eligible to enroll at LEARN DC so long as your temporary lodgings are located within the District.
