Have you heard the great news? Five scholars from LEARN’s 2020 graduating class have been awarded the prestigious Daniel Murphy Scholarship. They are among about 125 scholars throughout Chicago selected to receive the scholarship, which provides financial assistance, networking resources and support for matriculation to rigorous, college prep high schools and college. Congratulations! We are so proud of you.

Daniel Murphy Scholarship Recipients:
  • Jada Baker, LEARN Romano Butler
  • London Banks, LEARN Romano Butler
  • Danisha Lamb, LEARN Romano Butler
  • Lamiya Crawford, LEARN Hunter Perkins
  • Raven Medina,  LEARN 8 Middle School

Being a Daniel Murphy Scholar means a few things. The scholarship is valued at $30,000 over four years for tuition assistance for highly selective high schools and programming support. The programming support helps scholars successfully navigate through the high school experience, the college application process, college and beyond. Daniel Murphy Scholars are expected to maintain a 3.0 GPA and participate in their Programs that Promote Persistence, designed to provide scholars with academic and social-emotional support.

Each year, the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund receives nearly 1,000 applications from 8th grade students for approximately 125 available scholarships. We are so proud of our rising 8th grade scholars for this achievement, and we look forward to seeing their future success!
