About LEARN D.C.

LEARN D.C. is part of the LEARN Charter School Network and is located in Washington D.C. on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB).  LEARN was selected through a rigorous process conducted by the Ward 8 Parent Operator Selection Team (POST) to select a new school that would serve children who live on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling and the D.C. region. ALL children living in Washington, D.C. are eligible to attend our public, open-enrollment elementary school.

LEARN D.C. is currently serving grades Pre-K through 3rd grade, adding a grade level per year until the 8th grade. 

A note for our military families: We proudly serve military families who are DC residents at the Joint Base Anacostia Bolling military installation. At LEARN DC, we have programs like Anchored4Life to serve military-connected students. Learn more.

AppleTree@LEARN D.C. is a unique partnership between AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation and LEARN. The program delivers high-quality early childhood education in Preschool and Pre-K, as well as guaranteed seat at LEARN D.C. for Kindergarten. Program highlights:

  • Preschool and PreKindergarten program uses AppleTree Institute’s internally developed instructional model/curriculum, Every Child Ready.
  • Every Child Ready is designed specifically for 3 and 4 year-old children with the goal of ensuring they are academically, socially and emotionally prepared for Kindergarten.
  • Every classroom has at least two adults, including a combination of a lead teacher, a resident teacher and / or a teacher’s assistant.
